UPDATE: Dec 2022
Please see revised protocols for screening on the Ontario.ca/school-screening website.
All children should undergo screening daily before coming to the centre.
Anyone who is feeling sick or has any symptoms of illness, including those not listed in this screening tool, should stay home and seek assessment from their health care provider if needed.
Updated: March 17, 2022
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Kinder Kampus families! I’m sure you are all getting photos from your respective classrooms sharing all the activities going on!
I wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with an update. As I’m sure you are aware, Ontario is removing mask and staff personal protective equipment mandates effective Monday, March 21, 2022. As a result, you may be relieved or on the flip side, more worried. It’s truly a toss up and dependent on your personal views. As a childcare operator, I have to have a broader lens and I am concerned that the Province is moving too fast, especially directly after March break with the possibility of increased community spread post this time. I know a lot of my fellow operators feel the same way. We want to do everything possible to maintain the safety of all our staff and children within our Centres.
As such, I am choosing to be extra cautious by extending all health and safety measures currently in place at least until Friday, April 1. After two very difficult years, we are finally in a position where all things are trending upwards and we don’t want to jeopardize this trend. Our children, staff and you, our parents, expect no less from us! Please note that masks will be a requirement for all staff, kindergarten and before and after school children. Masks will also be required during the transportation to and from area schools (even though schools will not require them). Each van will have masks available for children as they enter the vans. I hope that the two-week buffer will help us remain healthier and safer and if the Province needs to reevaluate the overall situation, then our cautiousness will work in our favour. If there are no unforeseen circumstances, then, the following are changes you can expect as of April 4, 2021:
- Masks for staff and kids will be optional. I do want to add that many of our staff members may opt to continue wearing masks until they feel comfortable in removing them and I will proactively support their decisions to do so.
- Screening will no longer be confirmed daily. It falls upon you, the parents, to screen yourselves and your children respectively.
- One parent per family will be able to enter the Centre for drop-off and pick-up. We ask that you self screen daily to make sure you are symptom free before entering Kinder Kampus. As well, for now, you will be able to go to the door of each classroom, but not enter the classroom. We hope that sooner rather than later, we can accommodate you in the classrooms too.
- If you have travelled internationally and are NOT required to self isolate, note that anyone age 2 and over must wear a mask for the first 14 days upon returning to Canada. You are also responsible for monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms.
- If someone in your house tests positive, unvaccinated children must isolate for 5 days and can return to us following the isolation if no symptoms develop. Children 2 and over will also be required to mask from days 6-10 from the last exposure to the person with COVID 19 or a positive test result.
Families, we are so looking forward to all the changes as we begin the transition phase at Kinder Kampus. First and foremost is the opportunity to welcome all of you back inside Kinder Kampus and for many of you, for the first time! I know all of you are looking forward to meeting and interacting with your child’s teachers and I know they feel the same. I want to thank you all for your continued support and diligence in following all the requirements we continue to follow. Please feel free to reach out to us with questions, comments, concerns or general feedback.
We will keep you updated of any ongoing changes on a regular basis.
Warmly,
Anny Nasser, Owner/Operator
